Spooky HVAC Stories for Georgetown Homeowners

Spooky HVAC Noises

Halloween is upon us, and we thought we’d share some of our scariest, most spooky HVAC stories. As heating and cooling professionals, we see our fair share of otherworldly HVAC frights – even here in Georgetown. What you might not expect is the mysterious cause for these phenomena. And there’s no need to spread a circle of salt, we’ve got you covered with how to avoid these hauntings yourself!

Screeching and Squealing

More than once we’ve arrived to discover an HVAC unit howling in pain. Okay, okay, the equipment itself is not alive…we hope!

If you also have loud, squealing noises coming from your attic, it’s most likely due to a damaged fan belt or another part that requires replacement. High-pitched sounds like this are indicative that your unit is dying for a repair – and its expiration date may come sooner than you might like. Contact our team for a repair

AC Unit Frozen in Fear

Even in the Fall months, we can still get warm weather here in Georgetown. Many of us still have our air conditioners operating in October. A frozen air conditioner coil is a sure sign of a spine-chilling apparition… right?

Sorry to break the spell, but this is most commonly a refrigerant leak or an airflow problem. When there isn’t enough refrigerant in the system, the pressure inside the tubes changes, causing the coils to freeze up. In the case of an airflow problem, it’s important to remember that air conditioners need to have a clear path for air to flow through the system. So if you have jack-o-lanterns blocking the vents to your system, that could be the cause. If you need any help, contact our team for AC service.

Floating Dust Bunnies

Ever notice something ghostly out of the corner of your eye? It could be shadows… or reflections in the window… or worse yet, dust and pollen floating in the air of your home.

Visible particles are a sure sign the air in your home is not being filtered completely. It’s time to improve your IAQ (indoor air quality). Start hunting down this paranormal activity by replacing the air filter in your furnace. If you still see floating orbs after a day or two, it may be time to investigate a whole-home air purifier. With NASA technology, the MicroPure Air Purifier by Dustfree will put an end to these haunts.
